Our honest picks for a first 3D printer
We run more than 15 printers every day in our Cairo studio, so we know which machines are easy to live with and which ones need constant tuning. These are the printers we would tell a friend to buy as a first printer in Egypt in 2026.
1. Best on a budget: Anycubic Kobra X (42,000 EGP)
The cheapest good colour printer. Four colours built in (expandable to 19), fast, with a camera and AI failure detection. It has an open frame, so it is best for PLA and PETG. See the Kobra X.
2. Easiest to use: Bambu Lab A1 Combo (64,900 EGP)
Full automatic calibration, almost no tuning, quiet enough for a bedroom, and 4 colours in the box. Bambu Lab's software is the most polished on the market, which makes the first weeks much easier. See the A1 Combo.
3. Best value enclosed printer: Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo (53,500 EGP)
Fully enclosed with 4-colour printing, so it also prints heat-resistant materials. A great choice if your prints will live in a hot car, a balcony or outdoors. See the Centauri Carbon 2 Combo.
4. If you need big prints: Bambu Lab A2L Combo (87,000 EGP)

Which beginner printers should you avoid?
Older open-frame machines like the Elegoo Neptune 4 and Creality Ender 3 V3 KE look cheap, but they need more setup and adjusting. For a little more money, the Kobra X is a far better first printer.
Five tips before you buy
- Buy the Combo version if you think you will ever want colour. Adding it later costs more.
- Start with PLA+. It is the easiest material. Read our filament guide.
- Think about heat. PLA softens in a hot car in an Egyptian summer. Use PETG or ASA for parts that will get hot.
- Plan the space. A printer with a colour system needs about 60 × 60 cm of table.
- Keep filament dry. Egypt's humidity ruins open spools. Store them sealed with desiccant.
